So we’re seriously excited about that. Well, I got a few minutes; I want to get you out in a reasonable time, but I have already written this message, so you’re going to get it, all right? So, um, tonight is going to be the series finale of our series called «It’s Up,» and I want to read just a couple of verses of scripture. Can I teach you something tonight? I know you’re fired up; can I share something a little new tonight? I want to stretch you a little bit.
So, Joshua chapter 1, verse number seven says, «Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you. Don’t turn from it to the right or to the left so that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.» You need to send this scripture to people who say you can’t live without them.
I want to talk from this subject in our time together tonight: «Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.» Clap your hands if you’re ready to receive God’s word, family. I want to inform some of you and remind others that you have not been created to be common. You don’t need an anointing to be average. You’ve been set apart to stand up, stick out, and set it off for the glory of God. This is our destiny, and our destiny involves embracing our differences. We don’t say that in arrogance; we say it with assurance—assurance that we have accurately interpreted what God says in His word about us. I’m not arrogant if I’m echoing what He said about me. Did you hear what I just said?
Yeah, arrogance is when one overestimates oneself. Am I making sense? And I know in Christian culture there is an obsession with attacking arrogance, which we should; pride comes before a fall. But I want to let you know that arrogance isn’t the only instrument in the enemy’s arsenal. The same enemy that influences some people to think too highly of themselves is the same enemy that wants to influence others to think too low of themselves. The devil’s behind both of them. Come on here! Did you hear what I just said? The devil is sometimes the culprit behind arrogance, and sometimes the devil is also the culprit behind impostor syndrome.
So it is imperative—it is essential—that we embrace the gospel truth that Jesus purchased a life for us that is extraordinary. Here’s the way He frames it in John 10:10. He said, «The thief comes only to steal,» and if he can’t steal, «he wants to kill,» and if he can’t just kill, «he wants to destroy.» The thief comes only to steal, to rob you of what God wants to keep, to kill, to put to death what God wants to stay alive, and to destroy, to make unusable what God wants to use. But I believe I have some testimonies sitting in New Jersey tonight that will say it didn’t work. I believe I have some people that are a picture of the prophecy given by Isaiah when God says to Israel through Isaiah that it is I who form the blacksmith who fans the flames to forge the weapon, and because it is I who formed the blacksmith who fans the flames to forge the weapon, I can step back and say, «No weapon formed against you shall prosper.» Why? Because I made the one that’s using the weapon.
And I believe I got some people tonight that will say it came, but it didn’t work. I see it tried, but it didn’t work. It felt like it was working, but it didn’t work because when the dust settled, good God Almighty, and the wind stopped blowing, and the rain stopped falling, and the thunder stopped roaring, I was still here. Sometimes my testimony is, «I’m still around.» He says the thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy, but here’s what Jesus says: «I’ve come…» See, this is why I came—that you might have life. He didn’t just come to save; got your text, by the way, to save. This is so ghetto—I’m having individual conversations with people! This is really ghetto. Anyway, He did not come just to seek and save those who are lost; yes, He did. He didn’t just come to save lost lives; He also came to save the life that was lost, which one? He says it in the text, «I’ve come that you might have life and have it.» One translation says «more abundantly.» He says, «I don’t just want to give you this Zoe life; I want to give it to you in abundance.» Good God Almighty! Stinginess is not in my nature. I’m not a God of scarcity; He’s a God of abundance.
So when He gives you that Zoe life, He doesn’t just want to fill your cup ¼; He doesn’t just want to fill your cup halfway; He wants to fill your cup till it’s running over—running over with Zoe life. «I’ve come that you might have life and have it more abundantly,» or one translation says, «have it to the full.» To the full. If I’m not full, He’s not finished! You didn’t hear what I just said on this side. I said, «If I’m not full, He’s not finished!»
