Dharius Daniels - I'm Looking For a Breakthrough

Here’s what we are looking for this week. I’m seeking a breakthrough—clap your hands if you’re ready for God’s Word, everybody! I’m looking for a breakthrough, family. It has been said and suggested that everyone vacillates between the reality of two gods: the god in their head and the God of the Bible. There are instances where these gods are the same, and there are times when they are not. The lack of this revelation is the cause of a lot of frustration for people regarding their expectations of God. Because sometimes, people find themselves in situations and seasons where they are disappointed with God. Come on, let’s be honest! I said, let’s be honest, family. Disappointed with God, upset with God, frustrated with God—let’s go here—even angry with God. But all of these emotions are the fruit of frustration, and all frustration is merely evidence of a failed expectation. You feel frustrated when, watch this, you have an expectation that is not met. The question is, are we upset about God not being or not doing what He never promised to be and what He never promised to do? This is why we must always take the god in our head and put Him through the filter of the God of the Bible. Because this is the only way we can have realistic expectations. When we have realistic expectations, it minimizes our frustration. In order for God to help align our expectations, He strategically tries to inform us about who He is. How does He do it, Pastor? Well, in the Old Testament, He does it by giving us different names. He says, «I’m going to give you names because the names reveal my nature—that’s who I am and what you can expect me to do.» So He uses people like Abraham to introduce us to a name, which indicates what you can expect Him to do. Abraham called Him Jehovah Jireh. Come on here! That means God or the Lord will provide. Somebody say, «He will!» No, no, no, no! Say it like you mean it: «He will!» It means, watch this, because it’s His name, it’s His nature. Because it’s His nature, you have the right to expect Him to be who He said He would be, which means He can’t help but do what He said He would do. He is a provider, so He can’t help but provide. He’s eager to provide; He’s itching to provide. He refuses to be in a situation where He can’t provide, so He will take not enough and turn not enough into more than enough because He’s a provider! Did you hear what I just said? We see instances throughout Scripture where He demonstrates His ability to provide. When the Old Testament Israel reached a place where they needed water and couldn’t find drinkable water, He used a man named Moses to bring water out of a rock! I didn’t even know water was in a rock. I thought when it rained, water just rolled off the rock; some water rolls off, and some is absorbed. There’s stuff in some things you can’t see, but God knows how to pull it out. Is there anybody who can agree with this? Because when you look at your life, you see He pulled some stuff out of you. Pastor, I didn’t know some things were inside me until God pulled them out. And if He hadn’t, let me boldly and biblically make this prophetic declaration: He’s getting ready to pull something out of you! He’s getting ready to introduce you to a version of yourself that you haven’t met yet. Abram is going to meet Abraham; Sarah is going to meet Sarah; Jacob is going to meet Israel—exceedingly and abundantly! He gives us a name to reveal His nature. Yes, sir! Make sense? Abraham called Him Jireh. In one place in Exodus, Israel is fighting a battle that they should not win. I know, I know! We all have experiences where we lost in places we should have won. I’m trying to find the honest church today! I said I’m trying to find the honest church that will admit, «I lost in some places I should have won.» But if I’m going to be fair, Pastor, if I’m going to be honest, I won in places I should have lost. So instead of having a pity party about losing places I should have won, I need to learn how to have a praise party because I won in places I should have lost! I feel a little prophetic today, and I want to biblically and prophetically announce to somebody that you’re getting ready to win where you thought you were going to lose. Now take 8 seconds and put a praise on that! You didn’t receive it—you didn’t receive it. You think I’m just filling space; you think I don’t have anything else to say. I got interrupted with a word from God: you are getting ready to win where you thought you were going to lose! I’m going to give you one more chance—now praise Him if you receive that! At that place, they called Him Jehovah Nissi, the Lord who raises my banner in victory—the one who helps me win where I should have lost! Well, I don’t know how I’m winning; I don’t know how I’m still standing; I don’t know how I am where I am. I can’t explain how I have what I have, but Jehovah fights for me. There are many names, but there’s one I want to talk about today; this one is extremely important—yes, sir! —but it’s so often overlooked.
