Dharius Daniels - Rebuilding Your Life REQUIRES Spiritual Gatekeeping

But just right now, as a prophetic gesture, somebody at least do something with your hands that puts you in a receiving position. Come on and say, «God, give me wisdom. God, give me wisdom.» Yeah, I’m praying for some things, but I need you to release wisdom to me so that I know the part I’m supposed to play and that I play that part the right way. If you’re going to rebuild some things in my life, you don’t want to just engage in reconstruction, right? There can be deconstruction again, but when you build it back this time, it’s going to stay built. Reconstructing your life requires rebuilding some gates, right? You’ve got to understand the importance of gatekeeping, not just rebuilding gates, but keeping the gates once they’ve been rebuilt. Now, God gave you a revelation—he told me just a second ago, um, he gave you a revelation about gates? Yes, he did, and I want you to share this revelation with people because I want them to understand practically the importance of gates in their lives.

Okay, good. Yes, and first of all, with you saying how Nehemiah went about building the gates, it lets us know that Nehemiah was both strategic and intentional, right? Gates serve different purposes. That’s right. And this is the revelation God gave me: sometimes we want God to fix or undo what a gate would have prevented. Say that again, please. Fix and undo things in our lives that a gate would have prevented from happening. A hundred percent. Sometimes some divine intervention on the back end would be unnecessary if we were intentional on the front end, right? Yes, sir. So I’m going to tell you something. This is so powerful—well, not what I’m about to say, but this revelation I feel like God gave me—it’s powerful for my life.

I was praying about some things this morning; actually, I was praying about some things, and I found myself in my prayer time adding something that I don’t typically include when I’m making a request. So I followed an ACTS prayer model for my devotional time. It’s adoration—that’s the first part of my prayer. Confession is the second part. Thanksgiving, as an acronym, is the final part, and then supplication is the last part. So when I get to supplication, I’m praying and asking God for something, and then something just kind of came out of me, and I started asking God for wisdom. I asked for something and then said, «Now, God, give me the wisdom to play the part I’m supposed to play in bringing that to pass.» It’s like saying, «God, there’s a part You’re going to play.» Typically, when I’m praying, I’m just asking You to play Your part, and then I’m going on about my business, as opposed to saying, «I not only need You to play Your part, I need You to release wisdom to me so I can play, so that I know what part I’m supposed to play in this.» Come on, so that I know what You’re supposed to do versus what I’m supposed to do. It’s so good. You see what I’m saying here? So good.

And this is what we’re talking about when we discuss gatekeeping. Is God going to reconstruct some areas of your life? One hundred percent. But there’s a part we have to play, which is establishing and keeping gates, because that is how we partner with God in creating the result of reconstruction in our lives. I feel that right there! Somebody, now, if you’re driving, do not do this. Listen, when you get better spiritually, everything gets better. Spiritual life is not the only important part of your life; it is the most important part of your life because it affects every other part that’s important. But you don’t get stronger spiritually accidentally—it takes intentionality. You need to get fed, and you’ve got to learn how to understand, interpret, apply, and explain the Bible. The Bible is the blueprint to your best life, and I’m going to tell you that Sunday is not enough to give you the tools you need to get better with the Bible.

When you turn it around this time, it’s going to stay turned around. Let me go back to Exodus and exit strategies: the enemy you see today, you will see no more. You get to a point where God says, «I’m going to deal with that problem.» Come on, finally! Yeah, I’m going to put a period after that. It doesn’t mean you won’t have any more problems, but it means you won’t deal with that Pharaoh again. Come on!
