The reason there is no condemnation for you and I is because 2,000 years ago on a lonely tree Jesus his son hung there for us, and God unleashed his holy wrath and indignation against all our sins that Christ bore in his own body; and stroke after stroke after stroke after stroke after stroke after stroke of the broken law was punished in his body, and Jesus absorbed it all and cried, "It is finished".

There is therefore now no condemnation. Your sins did not escape. They were all condemned already. But if God would condemn you today for the sins he condemned Jesus when he bore your sins and because he bore the condemnation, God's righteousness and holiness cannot condemn you. If God condemn you today, he'll be unrighteous.

When you turn to the law, you fall from grace. Grace, for you to fall from grace, grace is higher ground. The cross gives you the righteous foundation. This is a righteous foundation, and how God can be righteous receiving sinners. Without compromise.
