We’ve been on this Destiny Gear series, and I think I’ll be able to wrap it up this week—I think, um, but let’s go to Second Peter, back to Second Peter chapter 1. I won’t even call it a recap; I’ll just breeze through where we’ve been, and then we’ll look at the remaining four Destiny gears that have been left off. These things, I believe, are critical and necessary for us to continue to move forward in the things of God and to arrive at the destination points that God wants us to reach. So let’s just jump right into it. Second Peter chapter 1: «Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge.» What does that word really mean? Come on, students! «Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge, » or the better translation of that word is «the recognition.» If this were a pop quiz: «Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge, » or «the recognition"—your ability to recognize God and Jesus our Lord. In order for us to move and function in excellence and in alignment, we have to be able to recognize God in all things, and God has given us that ability. Peter is praying that grace and peace would be multiplied, that an abundance of ability would be multiplied to us so that we can recognize God, so we can see God. Are we tracking? As His divine power has given us all things, does it say His divine power is going to give us all things? What does it say? Has given us all things. His divine power has already given us all things, but where do those things come from? Well, it says He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the—what? Through the knowledge of God. So here we go again! We’ve been given all things that pertain to life and godliness—not just the spiritual things, but the things that pertain to our lives. God is not brilliant when it comes to spirituality and ignorant when it comes to our lives. He is God; He put us here, which means He has a full understanding of everything we will need in order to do life well and to do God well. Are you tracking with me? So He becomes a one-stop shop. That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, «Stop worrying about what you’re going to eat, drink, or wear; all those things are life things. Stop worrying about life things. Seek first the kingdom, and all other things will be added.» Are you tracking with me? It says that He has already given us all things that pertain to our life and godliness; it’s already covered. But He says, «I’ve given those things to you through the knowledge of Him who has called us by glory and virtue.» So, your ability to recognize God will also help you recognize what’s going on in life. It’s also going to give you the ability—I love about God is the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is not limited to Genesis to Revelation—you may not be ready for that, though. The wisdom of God is not limited to your ability to quote the Bible. That’s wonderful; all that is powerful and profound, but the wisdom of God transcends that. The wisdom of God will have you in a board meeting—or another type of meeting—where you are the least versed in a particular area, but because you have the wisdom of God, you become the most astute in the room. That’s what the wisdom of God will give you. It’s interesting, if you study the apostles in the book of Acts, it says these were unlearned men, but they were sitting at the table of kings—not because of what they learned, but because of what they had the ability to hear in a moment. And that’s why we have to recognize God. I said I wasn’t going to recap: «As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, with the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.» I’m going to run through this. It says, «by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises.» So in our ability to see in the realm of God, to recognize in the realm of God, we can see these great and precious promises that have been stored up for us. These promises actually motivate us to continue to walk with God. One of the reasons why people often don’t obey God or don’t walk with God is that they don’t see God, because if they see God, they would see what God has promised and recognize the validity of what He has promised. They will see the integrity of God; they will see that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He would need to repent. And so when I’m seeing God right, I see the promise right, and I also see Him right; because if I see the promise but don’t see Him right, I will discredit the promise. Are we tracking? All right, so we’ve got these great and precious promises; through these promises, we’re made partakers of divine nature. Remember we talked about that. Our nature begins to change as we focus on these promises; what we see determines our nature.
