Touré Roberts - The Year of Breakthrough

I’m talking about 21 being the number of breakthroughs. You say we’ll pass away; where did you get that from? I’ll tell you one place that really resonated with me. The number 21 represents breakthrough. Quickly, it’s in the book of Daniel. Daniel was going through something; he was troubled about a dream, and he didn’t have the interpretation of the dream. His bridge was ignorance. A dream came to him, but there was no interpretation, and he couldn’t grasp its meaning. He knew it meant something, but he couldn’t reach the knowledge required for that understanding. His gap that needed bridging was ignorance, the absence of knowledge. He began to pray, and for 21 days, he wrestled in that place. He didn’t realize that a bridge was being formed in that 21-day period. What was happening in the spiritual realm—I’m digressing, but someone needs to grasp this. I just want to prove a point—was that there was warfare in the spirit. An angel was sent, and the interesting thing is that the moment he began to pray about his ignorance, the Word of God tells us that an angel literally started making his way to him to bring breakthrough. However, there was warfare in the heavens, and that angel was delayed. After 21 days—after three full weeks—the breakthrough came. Therefore, I believe with all my heart that 21 is a year of breakthrough. Let me tell you something about breakthrough: you can’t have a breakthrough without a breakdown. I feel like preaching! You can’t have a breakthrough without a breakdown. When you look at 2020, you saw all these breakdowns. Yes, those things broke down, but they broke down so we could break through. I believe, by the Spirit of God, that 2021 is not only going to be a year of breakthrough, but it is also going to be a year of restoration. I don’t believe that God broke you down to keep you down; I believe that God allowed us to be broken down so we can have breakthrough and move forward to achieve our destinies. You needed 2020. Yes, you needed 2020. So, we’re going to build bridges, and we’re going to be bridges. While there are many bridges we will build, I want to focus on four primary areas that I believe God wants us to focus on—to bridge specific gaps. The first is that I believe God wants us to be the bridge that moves people from despondency to destiny. Despondency—the despair, the discontentment, the hopelessness—must transition to destiny. When we look at 2020, it seems like a bad storm hit us. A bad storm caused power lines to go down. It hit us; roads were destroyed, businesses were damaged, and vision boards—those boards where people displayed their dreams—were washed away. You stood outside your house and saw vision boards floating down the river from the storm. In some places, metaphorically speaking, the lights are still out, but we are still here. I believe that as a church and as a community— I believe every kingdom-minded person should be this amongst other things—I will give more specifics shortly regarding our church. I believe we will be a bridge reconnecting people to their visions, their dreams, their identities, and their places of expectation and hope. 2020 wiped out some individuals. There are people right now whose faith has vanished without them even realizing it. I mean, some individuals who entered 2020 with confidence, believing this was their season, now find themselves unrecognizable compared to who they once were. 2020 has beaten you up; I get it. I am not judging you. Let me tell you, 2020 and I have had our bouts as well. However, I’m saying that there are some watching who have lost something—a fight, a hope, an expectation. There is vastness that you have lost, a bigness that you once had. You had finally reached a place where there were no limits; you truly believed that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ask or imagine. Yet, due to disappointment, despair, and despondency, your territory has shrunk. Remember Jabez?
