Thank you for joining us tonight, wherever you are in the world. I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity. First of all, I want to thank Reverend Keisha Dixon for covering for me last week. I thought I would be able to make it, but I was trying to juggle several commitments. Many of you knew I was on a retreat with pastors from all over the country, both Black and White, discussing the issue of race reconciliation. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it, and at the last moment, I asked Reverend Katie to fill in for me. I know she’s watching, and I want to give a shout-out to her for responding on such short notice and taking care of everything while I was in another part of the area. I’m very grateful for her, and I appreciate her ministry.
Thank you all for joining and not tuning out; I am truly grateful for her and her ministry. As I look at the attendance, I see we have people from Louisiana, Illinois, South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Connecticut, Texas, Michigan, Indiana, and we also have people from Puerto Rico, Botswana, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom. Those are the people who’ve checked in, and I appreciate you being with us tonight.
I am starting a new series that will take several weeks to complete, as it covers a very important topic. We began to touch on this a couple of weeks ago, discussing our key beliefs. It’s crucial to understand what we deem critical in our practice and faith. This is significant because what you believe dictates your behavior, and it also affects your eternal status. If you reject Jesus, the Bible is clear about the consequences of that decision; it leads to eternal damnation. We need to be crystal clear about this, and I want all who are associated with this ministry to know what we believe.
I’ve previously mentioned that some individuals have left our church for other groups, actually cults, claiming that we don’t teach the right things. The reality is they never took the time to understand our teachings. I want to ensure that you know what we believe, so you can’t be misled or fooled into following the wrong path. Therefore, over the next six weeks — or however long it takes me -I will be discussing the six major key doctrines of the Christian faith.
I encourage you to take good notes. Some of you may know that there’s a notes section available; someone will tell me shortly where to find it. Ah, there it is! You can get the notes at fbcg.org /BibleStudy. You can print it out or possibly fill it out while it’s on the screen. I’m not sure, but you all can figure it out. It 's much easier to fill in the notes since you won 't have to write everything down; there are just a few places to fill in the blanks. These points will be critical for you to understand what you believe and where you place your faith.
Let 's dive in and open with a prayer. Father, thank you for the privilege of being in your house of worship today. We are grateful for this opportunity to study the Scriptures and your Word. We pray that you would make it clear and plain to those who are watching and listening to this teaching. May all questions be resolved, challenges answered, and may everyone be clearly persuaded about what we believe and what the Scripture teaches. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
All right, I’ve gotten some answers here! Yes, you go to fbcglendon.org/BibleStudy, where you can fill in the blanks on the screen and then email it to yourself. Isn 't that nice? Technology has come a long way! When I was growing up, we had to write everything by hand. Now, all you have to do is fill in the blanks-someone say thank God for technology! So, you will have the privilege of doing that. We will talk about these six key doctrines over the next several weeks.
