Keion Henderson - I Won't Self-Destruct

Today, I want to talk about «I won’t self-destruct.» You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. In the late 1300s, a poet by the name of William Langland wrote a poem entitled «The Vision of William Concerning Pierce Plowman,» and in that poem, he coined a phrase that most of us here have either heard or said when we feel as if we’ve done all we can do. That phrase was, «I’m at my wit’s end.» Has anyone ever heard that phrase before? But he wasn’t talking about frustration with a spouse, a friend, or a hater; he was actually discussing astrologers and astronomers at that time who were trying to figure out whether the world was flat or round, whether this terrestrial ball we call Earth had oxygen or hydrogen, how far the sun is from the Earth, and what the temperature of the sun is. They tell us that 333 million Earths equal the size of one sun. Without all the technology we have today, just this year — in fact, this June or July-astrologers and astronomers were able, for the first time ever, to get a clear picture of Jupiter. In 2022, we got our first clear picture. Can you imagine how difficult it was for them in the 1300s to figure out what the composition of the ozone was, what the composition of soil is, at what temperature water freezes, and at what temperature metal melts? They had to do all of this without technology, so they were struggling. William looked at them and said they were at their wit’s end. The word «wits» is the Hebrew word for wisdom, so when you are at your wit’s end, it actually means that you have come to the end of your wisdom. You have reached a point in life where you don’t know anyone who knows the answer, nor do you have a strategy for your current problem. Is anyone in that place today? Albert Einstein said the difficulty of that position is that the thinking that caused the problem cannot solve it. What will make 2023 a difficult year is if you think you can solve its problems with a 2020 mindset. Every issue you have-whether you believe it or not-your mindset caused, and whether you believe it or not, your mindset is the reason you cannot solve the problem you have. I know you think that if they would change, it would be better, but they would change, and you would still not forgive them. Oh, there are some people in here right now. The person you’re upset with has changed; you just haven’t recognized it because you still see them as they were. It is our thinking that has caused the problems we have, and if we don’t alter our mindset, we will have the same issues in the new year. Let me tell you right now: waiting for a new year to change your circumstances is a bad strategy. How many times have you heard people over the last couple of weeks say, «I can’t wait for the New Year! I’m going to start exercising!» «I can’t wait for the New Year! I’m going to eat healthy!» «I can’t wait for the New Year! My wife told me the other day she said, ' Let' s do a cleanse in the new year.'» I said, «No, let’s do it now!» Because if we wait for the new year, we can find an excuse then. Just to let you all know, over the last five days, I’ve only eaten one day. So, if I have an attitude, it’s her fault! Literally, for four days, all we did was drink raw juice six times a day-no meat, no bread, no sugar, no salt, nothing! But I ate some chicken legs yesterday. That 's the bad thing about being on a cleanse; you do well for four days and give it all back! Why are you waiting for a calendar to make a choice? It could be a new year for you tomorrow; it could be a new year for you in June. The calendar doesn’t decide when I move on. The Bible says, «Choose ye this day whom you will serve.» Here’s the response: «As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.» For a person to be at their wit’s end — let me take my time because it’s the new year, and we don 't have to be home in 15 minutes, do we? You didn’t get dressed up and sit in all that traffic just to be gone in 30 minutes, did you? If you do, go ahead; I’ll be here with those who stay. For a person to be at their wit’s end means they’ve reached the end of their resources and know no strategy for their current dilemma. It means that what I know has brought me here, but I need to think higher to reach the next dimension. Our mindset being on repeat is the reason why our years seem similar, because my thinking is the reason my year, my day, my month, my house is the way it is. Are you with me so far? This means that each of us will encounter problems we do not know how to solve. I have to ask myself, is that by accident, or was that God’s intention? Did God, since He knows everything, create it this way?
