I want to talk about where we are—not just in the season, which isn’t quite the right term, but in the moment we find ourselves in. I want to discuss what this moment will require because, to be honest, I often spend the majority of New Year’s Eve discussing what God will do in the coming year. This year, however, I felt a different emphasis and burden—not on what God is going to do, but on who we must become this year. Do you understand what I’m saying? God will do what He will do; in fact, God has already done what He is doing. I wish I could express that better. It can be difficult to grasp because God was, is, and is to come. Jesus was the lamb slain before the foundation of the world, and the purpose of Jesus' sacrifice was for the redemption of humanity. Even before humanity needed redemption, the sacrifice had already occurred. Thus, it is both true and false to say that God is working; the most accurate statement is that God has worked. Are you hearing what I’m saying? We are stepping into what God has already worked out, and this should bring us comfort. In other words, God has already sorted out what you’re trying to figure out. He is not scratching His chin in heaven, trying to devise a solution for your deliverance. Before you got into trouble or became entangled, your deliverance had already been prescribed. Are you hearing what I’m saying? This is the God that we serve.
As I observe the world, I pay attention. If there’s one thing we should take away immediately, it’s to be alert, not asleep—be attentive. God provides clues about the times and seasons we’re in through various occurrences. We should be able to read the news and see the headlines, gaining insight into where we stand in the tenure of the earth and the current dispensation. In other words, we should be able to tell if we are getting closer to that great day by observing the world around us. If we’re not paying attention, we may find ourselves holding on in a letting-go season or letting go in a holding-on season. Your life cannot be random; it must be governed by your spiritual sensitivities. This means you need to make space to be spiritual. Don’t be so focused on building your life that you become distracted from being spiritually aware. Can I speak to you candidly today? It is imperative—more important than ever—that we become more spiritual in this season. When I say spiritual, I do not mean bizarre; that’s not what I’m referring to. I mean fostering an intimate and genuine relationship with the Lord—being in step with God to the extent that when God moves, you move; and you don’t move until you sense God moving.
I’m getting into my points, so let me hold on. As I observe what is happening globally, you must think broadly. Don’t only look at what’s occurring in your neighborhood or your specific corner of the world, or just through your social media feed. Be aware that your social media feed is curated based on what you like, as studied through what you click. This means that your feed is your world, not the actual world. That’s why you rarely encounter contrasting opinions in your feed, and you may find yourself shocked to learn that half the world doesn’t think like you. Are you hearing me? Therefore, I need to maintain a broader perspective. I might also add—just flowing here—that it’s important for you to build relationships with people who aren’t like you. It is essential to broaden your perspective. Travel a bit, and if you can’t physically go anywhere, then educate yourself. If necessary, connect with someone from Brazil, Croatia, or Cameroon—hello! This is so you can cultivate a global perspective, as what God is doing is worldwide. It will eventually trickle down to the local level, but ultimately, God is thinking globally. That’s why when the disciples were called, He didn’t tell them to go to the city; He told them to go to the nations. God is a global-thinking God.
As I pay attention towhat’s happening around the world, I see many things being set in motion.
